LUZENAC
Talc USP/NF, EP, JP

Talc, a hydrated magnesium silicate is the softest mineral in the world. Its basic crystal structure is composed of a layer of magnesium-oxygen octahedra, between two layers of tetrahedral silicate. The main surfaces of the talc platelets do not contain hydroxyl groups or active ions, making talc both hydrophobic and inert. Its balanced, neutral structure can also withstand temperatures of up to 900°C. Because the binding forces between one talc crystal and the next are very weak, the platelets slide apart at the slightest touch, giving talc its characteristic softness. The speciality of Luzenac Pharma is its lamellar structure, extra-fine particle size and super-white colour. It is manufactured according to IPEC GMP guide for bulk pharmaceutical excipients where it undergoes heat treatment process resulting in bacteriologically controlled products of exceptional high purity.
